Psalm 147:3

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

I read a sign in the barbershop recently, “You win some, and you learn some.”

Last week we talked about the difference between hurt and harm in Don’t Waste Your Wounds Part 1. If you missed that post I would encourage you to go back and read it as a foundation for this Part 2.

I am continuing here with the three questions I referenced in Part 1 that the Holy Spirit asked me after He had brought me through a painful incident:

What did you learn about yourself?

What did you learn about people?

And What did you learn about Me?

1. What did I learn about myself?

  • I learned that I am a flawed human being. Tainted by the inherent sin nature that I was born with.

  • I learned that I was easier offended than I knew.

  • I learned I have offended others as well.

  • I learned to deal with offense before hurt turns into harm.

  • I learned I could resolve offense from others between me and God most of the time.

  • I learned that forgiveness is more than an attitude, it takes action.

  • I learned never to give someone the power to control my life through my own offense.

2. What did I learn about people?

  • I learned that they are also flawed humans.

  • I learned that people can disappoint you.

  • I learned that some people are good, and some people are bad.

  • I learned that God loves them both.

  • I learned that the devil can use anybody that will allow him to.

  • I learned that God had people praying for me.

3. What did I learn about God?

  • I learned that His grace is sufficient.

  • I learned that He loves me when I’m right and when I’m wrong.

  • I learned He is patient and long suffering.

  • I learned that He is grieved when we hurt one another.

  • I learned when I forgive, He sets me free.

I learned that weeping can endure for many nights, but joy will come one morning!!
