SING BEFORE YOU SEE IT

ree

Isaiah 54:1

Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.

The 54th chapter of Isaiah speaks to the future of Israel. God is declaring His care and restoration for the nation. God is admonishing Israel to sing and celebrate for the spiritual children she doesn’t have yet. That is called an act of faith! As the Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 10:11 that the events of the Old Testament are examples for us today, we will use this passage of scripture to assure us once again that God is committed to our care and future as well.

Maybe you have a prayer that hasn’t been answered, or a promise from God that you haven’t seen. Don’t give up - have the faith to sing before you actually see it! Celebrate as though you already have the prayer answered or the promise received. That is a powerful act of faith. And after all, the Bible tells us that faith without works is dead.

A few years ago, a friend of ours was looking for a new home. Not only was she looking, but she was diligently praying about it. One day she started packing with no sign of another house in sight. This is what I mean by singing before you see it. You must approach your prayers or goals like you’re going to get them. Start praising God for the impossible. That isn’t wishful thinking, that’s faith. Remember, faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things NOT SEEN. It doesn’t take faith to sing about what you see, that’s just being thankful. (And, by the way, our friend DID receive her house in a most miraculous way!)

John 20:29 states, “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” [emphasis added]

Willpower doesn’t move God. Singing, praising, and worship by faith moves the heart of God. I’m not saying that doing these things is a guarantee that all your prayers and promises will be answered. What I am saying, is they are acts of surrender to God and faith in God’s answer.

Satan wants you to lose your faith in God. Don‘t. Start praising God for your lost children. Start praising God for your marriage. Start praising God for your healing. If you still have breath, just praise God. Sing His praises. Try singing a new song - a song of hope, a song of faith. SING BEFORE YOU SEE IT!
